Terms & Conditions
Please read these terms carefully. By using our services, you agree to be bound by them.
Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 24 August 20261. About These Terms
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of dental services provided by Acme Dental, located at 2A Fleet Street, Devonport, Auckland 0624, New Zealand (“we”, “us”, or “the Practice”), as well as your use of our website.
By booking an appointment, receiving treatment, or using our website, you agree to these Terms in full. If you do not agree, please do not use our services or website.
2. Dental Services
Acme Dental provides general and cosmetic dental services. All treatment is provided by qualified, registered dental practitioners in accordance with the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 and the Dental Council of New Zealand standards.
Treatment is provided following an examination and discussion of your dental needs. We will explain all recommended treatment options, associated costs, and risks before proceeding. Your informed consent is required before any treatment begins.
We reserve the right to decline to provide a particular treatment where, in the professional judgement of the treating dentist, it would not be in your best interest or where clinical contraindications exist.
3. Appointments
Booking: Appointments may be made by telephone, email, or via our online booking form. Confirmation of your appointment does not constitute a binding contract for treatment — treatment is agreed upon following examination and discussion.
Cancellations and rescheduling: We require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or where a patient does not attend, may be subject to a missed appointment fee of up to $75 at our discretion.
Lateness: If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, we may need to reschedule your visit to protect time allocated to other patients. We will do our best to accommodate you where scheduling allows.
Emergency appointments: We aim to accommodate dental emergencies within our daily schedule. Emergency appointments are offered on the basis of clinical need and subject to availability.
4. Fees and Payment
Fees: Our fees are based on the time, complexity, and materials involved in your treatment. An estimate will be provided before treatment begins. Final costs may vary if the scope of treatment changes during the appointment.
Payment: Full payment is due on the day of treatment unless a prior arrangement has been agreed. We accept EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. We do not accept cheques.
Payment plans: Interest-free payment plans may be available through Q Mastercard and Afterpay for eligible treatment plans. Eligibility is subject to the terms of the relevant finance provider. We are not responsible for the terms, conditions, or decisions of third-party finance providers.
Insurance: We are a Southern Cross Easy-Claim partner. For other health insurers, patients are responsible for submitting their own claims. We will provide itemised receipts to support your claim upon request.
Outstanding accounts: Accounts unpaid after 30 days may be referred to a debt collection agency and may incur additional collection costs. We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue accounts at a rate of 2% per month.
5. Health Information and Consent
You are responsible for providing accurate and complete health and medical information. Failure to disclose relevant medical conditions or medications may affect the safety of your treatment and the Practice accepts no liability for adverse outcomes arising from undisclosed information.
By accepting treatment, you consent to the collection and use of your health information as described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Treatment Outcomes
While we take every care to achieve the best possible clinical outcome, dental treatment involves inherent risks and results cannot be guaranteed. Individual outcomes depend on a range of factors including your oral health, general health, compliance with post-treatment care instructions, and biological variation.
We will always discuss realistic expectations with you before treatment begins. If you have concerns about a treatment outcome, please contact us promptly so we can assess and address your concerns.
7. Complaints
We take complaints seriously and aim to resolve them promptly and fairly. If you have a concern about your treatment or experience:
- Please speak to your dentist or a member of our team in the first instance
- If unresolved, submit your complaint in writing to our Practice Manager at hello@acmedental.co.nz
- We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and provide a substantive response within 20 working days
If you remain unsatisfied, you may contact the Health and Disability Commissioner at www.hdc.org.nz or 0800 11 22 33, or the Dental Council of New Zealand at www.dcnz.org.nz.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or any other applicable New Zealand law.
